Website Ping Test: dvdexploder.com down?
After consistently failing... See Moreto unlock my Samsung BD-1600 Blu-ray player using the free forum posts, I was very doubtful whether my player could be made region free at all. However, I decided to register with DVDExploder and see what they had to offer, even though there is a joining fee felt like I was taking a risk. But, what with all the foreign DVDs I had piled up, the risk was well worth taking.
At first, the code located in the database simply didn’t work and I was pretty disappointed to say the least. The DVDExploder website actually asks for constructive requests so I sent an email stating my problem. Within 24 hours a member of the team responded with an answer and pointed me in the right direction with regard to the DVD unlock sequence.
It turns out I wasn’t entering a step in the sequence quickly enough, along with the fact that I wasn’t pointing my handset controller directly at the DVD player! A simple error on my behalf and an issue easily dealt with by the website staff with an informative email response.
Since my Samsung player became region free I’ve unlocked a few of my friends’ machines - they looked at me like some sort of magician! Like me, they'd imported movies from abroad and didn’t even know about region restrictions. This is a very common problem I would like to see eradicated entirely.
I don’t usually write reviews, but I think in this instance it’s well deserved. If anything, I'd like to see the fee waived, but that goes without saying. After all, I guess people need to be rewarded for their time.
There are a few ‘fee’ based sites out there, but I’m glad I joined a group I can trust and can have an honest 'conversation' with. Show less
